UrbanLogiq offers an integrated data visualization and analytics platform to governments. Founded in 2016, UrbanLogiq is one of the global govtech industry’s fastest growing start-ups and we want you to join our team.

UrbanLogiq exclusively serves public government agencies providing them with cloud-based SaaS solutions that help them better create, manage, use, and consume insights from data, making government services more efficient and effective.

Our mission is to democratize cutting-edge data science and software services for governments of all shapes and sizes, paving the way for stronger, safer, better-connected communities. UrbanLogiq’s award winning software is currently used by government agencies across Canada and the US.

About the Role

UrbanLogiq puts a lot of emphasis on the quality of our product at UrbanLogiq. We believe that first impressions count and if we miss on product quality we hurt our users' trust in our platform.

We believe that quality is more just the absence of bugs. All people who use our product, whether they are our users or our team, have valuable feedback for how to make our product better.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer in Test you will be responsible for growing our automated testing infrastructure for our web applications, for our services, and for our data pipelines. Our developers will lean on you for advice on how to build code that is easier to test.

UrbanLogiq is a startup and plans to hold on to our startup scrappyness as long as we can. While we are looking for someone to fill the role of Software Engineer in Test, we occasionally have to call all hands on deck in other development domains. We need someone who is comfortable and willing to help out the team when needed, no matter what the task is.

You have grit and determination. You don't stop until the problem is solved. Sometimes you find that you need to trade off the optimal technical solution for a hack, and you are okay with that. But you also know when to go back and do it the right way.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience as a software engineer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people is essential to success in this role
  • Experience with programming languages like TypeScript or Python

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automated browser testing frameworks such as Selenium

If you're passionate about building innovative solutions that can make a positive impact on cities and communities, and are excited about working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
