About the Role

As a Product Designer at UrbanLogiq, you will work closely with the User Experience Lead, as well as with the cross-functional team to help shape the future of our product, which is being used by hundreds of public officials across North America today.

Your day-to-day will be a mix of improving existing features, designing new ones, conducting UX research, and evolving the design operations that enable UrbanLogiq to scale. You will be expected to deliver user-centric design solutions informed by user and market research to improve the overall platform user experience.

UrbanLogiq takes pride in being close to our customers, and our team members share the passion for the experiences of the government users. A key aspect of this role is clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. This includes spending time with clients and product team to understand the user personas, the ways our clients use their data, as well as their aspirations and pain points. With that knowledge in mind, the design team at UrbanLogiq is empowered to address the needs of our users through our current or future product offerings.

Specifically, you will:

  • Plan the design work and deliver the design documentation, working alongside multiple UrbanLogiq teams.
  • Review and improve existing product features.
  • Work closely with engineers to understand technical constraints that inform the design work.
  • Communicate with clients and team members to align on the objectives for the design work.
  • Organize and conduct UX research sessions with customers and UrbanLogiq team members.
  • Present deliverables to clients and stakeholders effectively.
  • Build and evolve the design operations that enable the team to scale.
  • Advocate the importance of the human-centric design practices to the UrbanLogiq team members.

About You

You are an experienced self-starter who is capable of navigating real-world design projects from beginning to end, while also collaborating across a diverse and passionate team.

  • You have 1-2 years of work experience designing for web-based or mobile applications.
  • You have a compelling portfolio showcasing the projects you worked on, as well as your process.
  • You are competent with the design methodologies covering a full design cycle: from ideation to implementation and continuous improvement.
  • You are proficient with Figma in creating wireframes, medium- and high fidelity design documents, as well as interactive prototypes.
  • You have experience with design operations, such as: creating and maintaining a design language or system, managing shared design assets, building design resources and documentation.
  • You thrive in an agile environment driven by continuous improvement, and you are comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
  • You are able to understand the complex technical requirements and incorporate them into your design work, as well as justify and explain your design decisions.
  • You are experienced in advocating for research-backed design practices. You are able to apply user-centered design principles, concepts, and practices in your design work.
  • You have experience conducting user studies to discover user needs and validate design ideas.
  • You are constantly learning about new design practices and looking for ways to incorporate them into your work.

Desired Skills

  • Experience designing analytics or enterprise software
  • Experience designing for big data, in particular around data visualization and map-driven applications
  • Familiarity with the web development foundations
  • Experience designing for the community, public, or government customers
